Blank Text on TikTok: Usernames & Bios

Published · Updated · By InvisibleChar

TikTok has two different name fields, and they behave differently: the username (@handle, unique, strict character rules) and the nickname (display name, much more relaxed). Invisible characters belong in the nickname and bio — not the @username.

For the nickname / display name

  1. Select Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800) in the tool above, length 1–3.
  2. Copy it.
  3. TikTok → profile → Edit profile → Nickname.
  4. Paste the invisible text — alone for a blank nickname, or around your name for spacing (e.g. invisible-char + "Nova" + invisible-char centers the look).

For the bio

Same process in the Bio field. Blank lines between bio rows work well — paste one U+2800, hit Enter, paste again.

Why not the @username?

TikTok's username validator only allows letters, numbers, underscores, and periods. Invisible characters get stripped or the save fails silently. Don't waste time there — the nickname is what shows prominently anyway.

A styling trick creators use

Surrounding your nickname with one invisible character on each side adds padding that makes the name breathe in comments and duets. Subtle, but it stands out in a crowded feed.

FAQ

No — the @username field only allows letters, numbers, underscores, and periods. Use the nickname (display name) field instead, which accepts invisible characters.
