How to Send an Empty Message on Discord
Published · Updated · By InvisibleChar
Discord won't let you send a message with nothing in it — hit Enter on an empty box and nothing happens. But a message containing an invisible character isn't empty as far as Discord is concerned. It sends, and everyone sees a blank bubble.

Steps (desktop & mobile)
- In the tool above, keep Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800) selected, length 1.
- Tap Copy Invisible Text.
- Open Discord → any DM or channel.
- Paste into the message box and press Enter.
That's it — a blank message appears in the chat
Fun uses: blank messages are great for comedic timing (a dramatic pause in a conversation), for testing bots and webhooks, or for formatting tricks — a blank message between two embeds creates visual separation.
What about blank display names?
Same trick works in User Settings → Profiles → Display Name. Paste 1–3 U+2800 characters. Note: Discord still requires something in the field, and some servers' bots may flag blank nicknames — in servers, moderators can still see your username on hover, so this isn't anonymity, just aesthetics.
If it stops working
Discord has occasionally tightened this. If a blank message fails to send, try Hangul Filler (U+3164) instead.
